As the world moves closer to 8 billion, scaling up evidence-based solutions that benefit everyone, leaving no one behind, while reaching the person furthest behind first is the only sustainable way forward. Evaluation process and practice based on a human rights-based approach and following an intersectional lens can provide rich evidence to adapt and accelerate towards equal access to opportunities and rights and choices for everyone, especially women and girls.
In line with this vision, on the occasion of World Population Day 2022, UNFPA Evaluation Office has released a new guidance that integrates the principles of leaving no one behind and reaching the furthest behind in evaluation. The guidance also supports the implementation of a strong corporate priority to leave no one behind, as articulated in the UNFPA strategic plan, 2022-2025.
