The humanitarian crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories remains critical, with escalating violence and widespread displacement affecting millions. Gaza has experienced significant destruction, with most of its population displaced multiple times and living in overcrowded shelters. Women and girls face heightened vulnerabilities, including inadequate access to healthcare and increased risks of gender-based violence (GBV). The ongoing siege and attacks have left critical infrastructure in ruins, disrupting essential services, including healthcare, water, and education. Food insecurity has reached alarming levels, particularly among pregnant women and children, with famine-like conditions intensifying.
In response, UNFPA delivered life-saving sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and GBV services across Gaza and the West Bank throughout December 2024. Over 16,500 people accessed SRH services, including emergency obstetric care and maternal health support through mobile clinics and containerized health units. UNFPA also reached over 51,000 individuals with GBV prevention and response services, distributed dignity kits, and provided cash assistance to reduce vulnerabilities. Additionally, over 8,750 adolescents and youth benefited from education, mental health, and recreational initiatives. UNFPA continues to coordinate key humanitarian clusters and advocate for SRH and GBV priorities in the broader humanitarian response.
