The Position:

The Programme Analyst, Strategic Partnerships position is part of the UNFPA Young Professionals from Africa and of African Descent programme. The programme is open to qualified candidates who are 32 years of age or younger in 2021, who self-identify as a person of African descent or are a national of an African country. The programme is intended to provide on-the-job training for young professionals who wish to obtain practical experience in international development and have the potential to grow into impactful leadership roles across the organization.

You will report directly to the Strategic Partnerships Specialist, Strategic Partnership Branch, Division of Communications & Strategic Partnerships.

Job Purpose:

Under the overall direction of the Chief of the Strategic Partnerships Branch, the Programme Analyst, Strategic Partnerships will assist the Strategic Partnerships Specialist in the development, management and coordination of brainpower partnerships with academic institutions and the fashion sector.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:  

Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, International Relations, Development Studies or similar field.

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • 2 years of experience in partnership building, resource mobilization and/or project coordination in areas relevant to UNFPA’s mandate; 
  • Experience working in an international setting and/or in a field location is an advantage;
  • Familiarity with UN development programmes and working methods preferable;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members from different national and cultural backgrounds.

Languages: 

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other official UN languages is an asset.
