The devastating floods in eastern Bangladesh have affected 5.8 million people, with over 500,000 displaced to evacuation centers. UNFPA swiftly responded, completing the first phase of life-saving assistance within 72 to 96 hours and continuing support in the hardest-hit areas. Between mid-August and September, emergency teams assessed the response in Khagrachari, focusing on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and gender-based violence (GBV). Field missions to Feni and Noakhali monitored ongoing relief efforts. UNFPA has organized 22 mobile SRH camps in districts such as Noakhali and Khagrachari, serving over 3,100 women and adolescents with critical healthcare services.

In addition to SRH services, UNFPA has distributed 2,905 dignity kits and 2,753 menstrual health management (MHM) kits to women, adolescent girls, and vulnerable communities, including transgender women and people with disabilities. UNFPA also trained 200 youth volunteers in Noakhali to raise awareness on child marriage prevention, menstrual health management, and GBV. These volunteers are now helping to disseminate essential information to the community.

UNFPA Bangladesh estimates that US$ 4.92 million is needed to reach its target population of 90,500 women, pregnant women, adolescents, and gender-diverse individuals. However, only US$ 740,000, or 14.9% of the required funds, has been mobilized so far.
